Navel

The navel, or bellybutton, piercing is probably the most popular piercing that we do at Kaleidoscope. We offer several different choices of jewelry for the starter stud in a navel piercing. We offer a surgical steel captive bead ring for $35 as a cheaper alternative to the curved barbells. Curved barbells are the preferred studs to use in a navel piercing. Barbells will lie flat on your stomach which will prevent all the catching and snagging that occurs with rings that stick out away from your body. Captive bead rings also tend to lay to one side or the other which causes them to heal slightly crooked. The barbells are a little more expensive but the extra money is well spent because you will have a much better experience being pierced with a curved barbell that is made specifically for your navel. Prices on barbells range from $50 to $65 depending on the style that you choose. These prices include the piercing, jewelry, and after-care solution. The navel takes 6 months to fully heal. We know your best friend told you that she changed her navel ring one month after she got it but this is not a smart idea. Even though it looks healed on the outside the inside of your body needs 6 months to fully regenerate all the skin tissue. Every time you change your jewelry before your body has fully healed resets the process and will cause aggravation to the area. This is why piercings get red and develop build-ups of scar tissue called keloids. Waiting the entire 6 months will ensure that you have no problems with your piercing for the entire time you choose to have it.
